Before a repair: how to prepare your device
A little preparation can make a repair assessment clearer. Note the model and symptoms, make a backup if possible and agree which accessories are needed. Visits are by appointment.
Checklist for your appointment
- Write down the brand and model; a photo of the model label can help.
- Describe what happens and when it began. Photograph any error message.
- Back up important files if you can; tell us if you cannot.
- Ask whether the charger or another accessory is needed.
- Arrange a time before visiting.
Passwords and device access
- Do not send passwords, device codes or recovery keys in a form or message.
- If access is needed for testing, discuss the minimum access required and how to arrange it.
Before resetting or wiping
- Do not erase the device just because you requested a repair. Ask first; error information may help diagnose the issue.
- If a reset or reinstall is needed, discuss the effect on your files before work begins.
Costs and approval
- We discuss proposed work and costs before starting. Phone and iPad part prices vary by model.
- Work begins only after you approve the proposal.
